| The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down. Psalm 146:8
Jesus said to Saul, "Get up and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do." Acts 9:6
I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I; send me!" Isaiah 6:8
Jesus answered Nathanael, "I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you." John 1:48
Friends, I have recently signed up to receive the Moravian Daily Texts. They are awesome little devetionals. Above are some verses they send for meditation upon. I thought I would share my meditations with you. In Psalm 146:8 we recognize that it is repeating the same idea that God opposes the proud and exalts the humble. When we humble ourselves we are free to obey Christ in whatever He would call us to do. Acts 9:6 is an example of that, Paul was humlbed and the Lord spoke to him. Hearing God's voice for direction necessitates obedience. In order for Paul to be shown more about what His destiny looked like he had to "get up and enter the city." The same was true for Abraham in Gen 12:1-3 "Go to the land I will show you", but humility I believe were actions of the heart that had to happen first before this. Now then once you obey You might overhear conversations the Lord is having about His plans, and in the state of humility how can you not want to volunteer (Isa 6:8)? Finally before you ever got to this place of humility and even hearing God's voice on instructions about what you are supposed to do, or overhearing His conversations, you recognized, He saw you first before you ever saw Him. (John 1:48).
God of Hope, help us to trust in you to lead us, even though the places in which we find ourselves are often difficult. Grant us the vision to see how it leads to you. In Christ's name. Amen.
| Below is a copy of a letter I have received from one of my missionary friends. I have changed names and locations so as to protect his identity. I hope it encourages you in your daily walk with Jesus. My friend is a missionary among a people group that has only a hand full, litteraly I mean you can count them on your fingers, of believers and none of them know each other, and it is on an island of a few million people who are all Muslim. Worst of all is there is only a handfull of missionaries there to share the good news with them. Will you pray for this people that Got will raise up laborers (Matt 9:38), and will you consider going yourself.
“The truth is, a kernel of wheat must be planted in the soil. Unless it dies it will be alone- a single seed. But its death will produce many new kernels- a plentiful harvest of new lives" John 12:24
Dear Friends,
It’s an interesting paradox, eh, die to live and live to die. In it, though, there is all joy and pleasure because in it is Jesus.
I was thinking a little bit about this because of an experience I had lately that has encouraged me. It started with the dratted mosquitoes that were flying around in my room in spite of my anti-mosq. device. After already killing a couple, I saw one on the wall and did not hesitate- Whack! Eww…because as I hit it blood came out staining the wall and getting on my fingers.
I usually don’t think of myself as having “shed blood” for anybody but this kind of changed my perspective. I was looking at the blood mark a couple of days ago, and I felt like Jesus spoke to me about it- showing me that I was “shedding my blood” for the people as I die (in a hundred different ways) to myself and take up my cross and follow Him.
Thank you all very much for all that you do. I ask that you lift all this up.
Sincerely,
Stan | | |
| Hey friends,
Have you ever sang that song "All my fountains are in You?" Man that is the truth! Did you know that there are going to be books in heaven? Yeah it is true, they will not only have the book of the Lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world, most commonly referred to as the Lamb's book of life, but God also has a book known as the Register of hte Peoples, in which He is making sure He has people from every tribe, nation and tongue before His throne, hosting the most eclectic and diverse worship service known this side of eternity.
Psalm 87:4-10
"I shall mention Rahab and Babylon among those who know Me; Behold, Philistia and Tyre with Ethiopia: 'This one was born there." But of Zion it shall be said, "This one and that one were born in her"; And the Most High Himself will establish her. The LORD will count when He registers the peoples, "This one was born there."
Deuteronomy 7:7,8
It was not because you were more numerous than any other people that the Lord set his heart on you and chose you -- for you were the fewest of all peoples. It was because the Lord loved you.
Romans 9:16
So it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God who shows mercy.
Try not to put those versus in a Calvinistic box, those versus are meant to encourage us not cause debates. But the important thing I wanted to note here is that all of you who are saved in Christ, were chosen, and not only were you chosen, but you were born there. As Psalm 87 stats all of these guys, "This one was born there." Did you pick your place of brith? You were born in a country that has in its possession the blessings of the Truth of Christ Jesus' Gospel. 2 billion people exist on the planet today are born in areas of the world, WITHOUT any witness to this good news. I challenge you, Rejoice in the Salvation provided to you by Your heavenly King, because in Him flow all fountains of joy and comfort, now that you know all fountains are found in this Rock, pray and seek earnestly to take His Living Water to the Wilderness, where many are dying of thirst both spiritually and physically. I recommend this article to anyone who wants to read it "Did You Pick Your Place Of Birth"
Comments are welcome, they motivate me to write more. Thanks friends.
